Why I Built Omnia Elevate Instead of Another Recruiting Machine

The leadership philosophy behind Omnia Elevate — and why relationships will always matter more than recruiting quotas.

If you've found this page, there's a good chance you're asking a question I once asked myself.

Is there a better way to build a real estate company?

Not one with a bigger logo. Not one with more recruiting contests. Not one with another "life-changing opportunity" presentation.

A better way.

This story isn't about why I joined a brokerage. It isn't even about why I partnered with JLA Realty. It's about why I refused to build another recruiting machine — because I believe our industry deserves something better.

My Journey Through National Brokerages

I've been in real estate since 2004. Like many agents, I've experienced different brokerage models throughout my career. Some organizations were excellent. Some had incredible training. Some had amazing technology. Some had strong leadership.

But over time, I noticed a pattern that kept repeating itself. The longer I stayed around leadership circles, the more conversations centered around one thing.

Recruiting.

Not serving clients. Not helping agents become better professionals. Not improving communities. Recruiting.

How many appointments? How many presentations? How many new agents this month? How many cappers? How many recruits until the next award?

Recruiting isn't inherently bad. Every company needs to grow. But somewhere along the way, many organizations unintentionally started treating people like production numbers instead of human beings. That never sat well with me.

The Moment Everything Changed

There wasn't one dramatic day where I decided everything was wrong. Instead, it happened over years.

I watched incredible agents burn out. I watched brand-new REALTORS® get recruited with tremendous excitement, only to receive very little support after joining. I watched leadership become consumed by growth metrics instead of people.

I asked myself a difficult question. If I ever built something, would I do it the same way?

The answer became very clear.

No.

I wanted to build something different. Not smaller. Not easier. Just different.

Launching Red Hawk Coaching Changed Everything

In 2017, I launched Red Hawk Coaching. At the time, I thought I was simply helping agents improve their businesses. What I didn't realize was how much those coaching conversations would change me.

Over thousands of coaching sessions, I had the privilege of seeing the real challenges agents face. Not the ones discussed from stage. The real ones.

The challenges agents rarely talk about

  • Fear, burnout, and isolation
  • Financial stress and confidence issues
  • Marriage struggles behind the business
  • Business planning, systems, and time management
  • Leadership, mindset, and a sense of purpose

When you're coaching agents from different brokerages across the country, something interesting happens. You stop believing one brokerage has all the answers. Instead, you begin seeing patterns.

The agents succeeding weren't succeeding because of a logo. They succeeded because they had clarity. They had accountability. They had relationships. They had leaders who genuinely cared about them. That perspective became priceless.

Coaching Gave Me an Outside Perspective

Coaching allowed me to step outside the normal brokerage competition. I wasn't trying to recruit people. I wasn't trying to convince someone to leave their company. I was simply helping people become better.

Ironically, that made me see the industry more clearly than ever before. The brokerage wasn't usually the problem. Leadership was. Culture was. Support was. Vision was.

When those things were healthy, agents flourished. When they weren't, even talented agents struggled. That realization changed how I thought about everything — and it's the same thinking behind why so many experienced agents move to JLA Realty.

I would never measure success by how many people I recruited. I would measure success by how many people became better because they were part of it.

The Promise I Made to Myself

Long before Omnia Elevate existed, I made myself a promise. If I ever built something, I would never measure success by how many people I recruited. I would measure success by how many people became better because they were part of it.

Those are two completely different scoreboards. One celebrates growth. The other celebrates impact.

Impact always wins.

Because when people improve, growth naturally follows.

Why I Created Omnia Elevate

When the opportunity came to partner with JLA Realty, I wasn't looking for another recruiting platform. I was looking for the right operational foundation.

JLA Realty already had compliance, transaction management, technology, and brokerage infrastructure in place. That allowed me to focus on something entirely different.

People.

That's why Omnia Elevate exists. Not to create another brokerage. Not to compete against every company in Texas. Not to convince every agent to leave where they are.

Omnia Elevate is an agent development organization powered by JLA Realty, and it exists to build leaders — to help agents create sustainable businesses through practical real estate training, coaching, accountability, community, and relationships. Because those are the things that last.

This Is Why You'll Rarely Hear Me Talk About Recruiting

People sometimes ask me why I don't post constant recruiting videos. The answer is simple. I don't wake up wondering how many agents I can convince to join. I wake up wondering how many people I can help become better.

Ironically, that's become our greatest recruiting strategy. People notice when an organization genuinely invests in its members. They notice when leaders answer the phone. They notice when training is practical instead of motivational fluff. They notice when someone celebrates their success without expecting something in return.

Culture is difficult to fake. People eventually figure out whether they're joining a family or joining a sales funnel. I want Omnia Elevate to always be the first.

Relationships Always Beat Transactions

One of my core beliefs is simple. Relationships outlast transactions.

A closing lasts one day. A relationship can last decades. The same is true inside organizations. You can recruit someone today, but if you don't build a relationship, they'll eventually leave. You can close another deal, but if you don't care about the people involved, referrals disappear.

Everything meaningful in business is built on trust. Trust takes time. Trust requires consistency. Trust requires serving people even when there's nothing immediately in it for you. That's the philosophy behind everything we do.

Leadership Is a Responsibility

One lesson coaching has reinforced over the years is that leadership isn't about being the smartest person in the room. It's about creating an environment where everyone else can grow.

Sometimes that means celebrating wins. Sometimes it means having difficult conversations. Sometimes it means saying, "I don't know." Sometimes it means pointing someone toward a better opportunity, even if it doesn't directly benefit you.

Leadership is stewardship. You're temporarily responsible for helping someone maximize their potential. That's a responsibility I take seriously.

Why This Story Matters If You're Considering a Brokerage Change

If you're wondering whether you should switch brokerages, I encourage you to ask better questions than most agents ask. Instead of only asking "What's the split?" — a fair question I cover in depth on real estate commission splits in Houston — also ask:

Better questions to ask before you move

  • Who answers the phone when I need help?
  • Will I actually receive coaching?
  • Is there a clear path for growth?
  • Does leadership genuinely know me?
  • Will someone challenge me to improve?
  • Are people celebrated because of production, or because of who they are?
  • Is culture something they talk about, or something they demonstrate?

Those questions will impact your career far more than a commission split alone. If you want a framework for weighing them, start with how to choose the right real estate brokerage in Houston, TX.

Omnia Elevate Isn't for Everyone

And that's intentional. We're not trying to be the biggest. We're trying to build something meaningful.

If an agent is simply looking for the highest split with the fewest expectations, we're probably not the best fit. But if you're looking for coaching, accountability, leadership, relationships, and a community committed to helping one another succeed, I'd love to have a conversation.

Because that's why Omnia Elevate was created. Not to build another recruiting machine. To build better leaders. And when leaders become better, businesses naturally follow.
